Grati-Tuesday

Yesterday I taught the lesson in Sunday School, and there was something I read that really hit me.

“Sometimes we want to have growth without challenges and to develop strength without and struggle. But growth cannot come by taking the easy way. We clearly understand that an athlete who resists rigorous training will never become a world-class athlete. We must be careful that we don’t resent the very things that help us put on the divine nature.” (Paul V. Johnson, April 2011)

I know that anything I want to become good at takes a lot of practice, but sometimes I get so impatient, and I don’t want to keep messing up or starting over. Sometimes I get so impatient and frustrated with sewing or graphic design projects for work that I just want to quit because I don’t like the practice part. I want to be good at it now.

After reading that I realized that I had been resenting the very things that help me improve. Sure they aren’t fun at all, and I would gladly go without them, but they are completely necessary and help me to grow.

This year I have really tried to be more patient with the people around me, but I could definitely do better this next year with being more patient with myself and the things that I am learning.

Today I am trying to be grateful for the things that help me put on divine nature.

What are you grateful for today? Do you have any New Year’s resolutions to help better yourself? Please share, and let me know in the comments! 🙂
