Fall Sewing Inspiration

Having all of my fabric and sewing supplies in boxes really makes me go through withdraws. I haven’t made something in so long. I cannot wait until Saturday when we move and I can finally unpack it all!
I’m finishing up some graphic design projects, and then I am 100% sewing all the things. I went a little crazy last night and pinned a bunch of outfits to a secret pinboard (because I knew everyone would unfollow me if I blew up their Pinterest with maternity pins…). It just made me so excited to start sewing again, and I wanted to share to see what you think!
The best part about most of these outfits is that you can totally make any of them non-maternity and they would be so cute! This pregnant lady was just panicking on what she should wear when it starts to get cold and was so happy to find so much good inspiration!

Long cardigans just make me want to curl up and take a nap…but I think pregnancy might just do that to you. I think I could make these with the Driftless Cartigan. And I’m dying make a cardigan with some amazing sweater fabric I got in LA.
The binding on the 1st and 4th one are so pretty. I love the contrasting pocket on the 2nd one!

These kimonos are so pretty and flowy. I have a pattern the Simplicity 1108 pattern that has a bunch of different kimonos. The patterns are gigantic so they’re a bit hard to cut out, but once you get past that I’m sure it’s much better (since I’m still in the cutting stage…).

The one in the middle reminds me of the cape/poncho (whatever they are called) that I made last year. I love the separate hem around the neck. I’m tempted to get it out and sew  up the sides so that it’s more like a kimono. Thoughts?

These dresses just look too comfortable not to make. I want to make a couple ruched dresses because my ruched Motherhood shirts are the best, and they fit so well. For these dresses you could use the Union St. Tee, the Lark Tee, or the McCall’s M6886 pattern. So many options, and all of the patterns have different necklines and sleeve lengths to choose from!Time to learn how to ruche things! I really want to make a dress with contrasting hems on the sleeves and neckline too (if that makes sense). I think that would be fun. 🙂

These would be the best for fall/winter when it starts getting cold. I would use the same patterns that I mentioned for the short sleeve dresses above. I love them knee length or mid-calf versions. The Panama Tee Dress is definitely the perfect pattern to remake these.

After looking at these shirts, the Lane Raglan pattern is calling my name! Apparently I’m really into the gray and black, but other colors would be so cute too.

I don’t know how I would make these, but I love the 3rd one and how it’s loose on top (maybe just make a regular dress and attach elastic or sew piping to pull a string through?). The 2nd one would be a good nursing friendly top since it’s a button up.

Swing dresses and tunics are the prettiest and I have wanted to make one for so long. You can even wear them post pregnancy! I think the only way to do these is by hacking a pattern to angle out at the sides and you could do that with any of the basic dress or t-shirt patterns I’ve mentioned.

These dresses/skirts would be so pretty for a maternity shoot. I love that the 2nd one has pockets! The Brumby Skirt pattern would work perfect for this (plus — pockets!). I might have to get me that pattern…

I have no idea where to start with these, but I love them! The tulip skirt (2nd) seems like it would be simple enough to make without a pattern if you couldn’t find one.So what do you guys think? What have you been dying to sew up lately? Do you have any patterns you love that I should try?
