Nursing Friendly Ebony Tee Dress + Ring Sling

This pretty lady is my sister, Nicole. Her sweet new baby is Tychus, and I was so lucky to be able to go and see them two weeks after she had him. I had so much fun taking these photos of her and a few more of her cute little family + newborn pictures of Ty.

Isn’t that baby-head-of-hair amazing?? Can you just look at that little baby yawn?! I knew that she was going to get tons of good things for Ty at her baby shower, so I decided to make a couple of things for her instead.

The first thing I made was a ring sling, since they are so easy to make and easy to use once you get the hang of it. I also knew she would be in need of a good nursing dress for church, so I made her an Ebony Tee Dress with side seam zips (like mine!) and lengthened it by a whopping 14 inches!

The fabric for the ring sling is 100% linen from Joann’s. The dress I made for Nicole is made out of a double brushed poly from Fabric Outlet (online store is Cali Fabrics). I have heard from people that brushed poly fades, so I let her know to wash it in cold water and lay it out to dry (that should preserve the color).

She LOVES it, and those side seam zippers are a game changer. She is ACTUALLY nursing in those photos, yo. The tutorial on how to make your own ring sling is here, and I also wrote up a blog post on how I insert the invisible zippers into the side seams right here.
